Little Wine Co 2018 Little Gem Barbera
Little Gems ~ distinguished single vineyard Hunter Valley wines.
The first release of Barbera under the Little Gem label from the fantastic 2018 vintage. This wine was grown in the Riverbank vineyard in the Broke-Fordwich sub-region approximately 10 kilometres from the winery.
In 2018 the vineyard was selectively hand-harvested on two dates; on the 8th February only the ripest bunches were selected, and the remaining fruit was left to ripen for another eight days. This attention to detail has created the very first Little Gem release for Barbera.
The intensity of the fruit is apparent on the nose, with brooding characters of blood plum and dark jubes. The palate is full of delicious, plush fruit characters of currant and blackberry supported by warm, velvety tannins. Barbera is not a variety for long term ageing and it is recommended this wine be enjoyed between 2020- 2023.
Coming from a warmer year this wine is full and ripe and 14.8% alcohol, ideal serving temperature is 20-25 degrees.
