The renowned Dairy Hill block consistently produces the best Semillon for Briar Ridge each year and the 2019 vintage was no exception. With Kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass aromas and flavours, enjoy this crisp, elegant wine now or cellar this sleeping beauty over the long-term (if you can wait).
This Semillon allows for a touch more ripeness than most Hunter Semillons and whilst this ensures the wine can be enjoyed as a young wine, the great structure ensures its longevity. It is characterised by an intense citrus and lemongrass nose and a generous middle palate with a long, crisp finish.
Lifted aromas of citrus and lemongrass are layered over mineral zesty notes. The palate is long and refreshing displaying primary fruit character of citrus and white peach.
This perfect summer wine showcases the union between Hunter Valley Semillon and cool climate Sauvignon Blanc from Orange. The classic blend fuses the bold tropical and gooseberry aromatics so typical of Sauvignon Blanc with the mouth-watering lime and zingy acidity of Hunter Semillon.
A delicately flavoured, bright and crisp in its youth but with careful cellaring, develops into a richly layered and complex wine. Equally at home, simply sipping with friends or perfectly matched to Australia's finest, fresh seafood, you're sure to enjoy one of the Hunter Valley's finest.
Made by Ollie Margan, the Breaking Ground range was developed to place emphasis on echoing the soils in which they were grown.
