A progressive and elegant style of Hunter Valley Chardonnay. Aromas of melon and preserved citrus peel are layered with toasty oak to complete the nose. The palate is long and restrained with notes of citrus and creamy mouth feel delivering a wine with great persistence and body.
A beautiful, lighter style of Chardonnay from winemakers Damien and Jodie. Packed with florals, white spice and dried herbs on the nose. On the palate it is an unctuous, totally textural wine, with almonds and butterscotch and an underlying lovely citrus line of acidity.
This single vineyard wine is beautiful example of the new style of Hunter Chardonnay. An elegant and beautifully crafted wine made with a judicious use of French oak.
New to the Wine House but from a rich viticultural history dating back to 1972. Located on the former Pooles Rock property in Broke, this vineyard continues its remarkable history of producing very notable Chardonnay. This is a stunner.
The grapes for this wine were picked from our 40 year old vines grown in the ancient Fordwich Sill. These low yeilding mature vines produce ripe, concentrated fruit which results in a wine with excellent regional and varietal characters. This wine was partially fermented in French oak Barriques for 6 months.
Silkman won Best Chardonnay in Australia for their 2014 Reserve in the Halliday Chardonnay Challenge and this vintage follows on beautifully. Very much in the contemporary style of Hunter Chardonnay; elegant, restrained French oak, lean mineral fruit characters, persistence of flavour.
The wine shows notes of peach and citrus with a crisp finish brought on by less oak and more emphasis on elegance and balance. It is drinking beautifully now and can be stored for 3-5 years if needed.
