Margan 2022 Timbervines Chardonnay
Timbervines vineyard is located on the red volcanic soils of the Fordwich Sill in the Broke-Fordwich sub region. These old vines were planted in 1972 to Mendoza clonal plantings, which typically see a richer style of chardonnay with mid palate texture, fruit generosity and line and length. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented in new French oak puncheons using natural yeast and a high percentage of grape solids in the ferment. The lees are stirred once a week for 9 months to build mid pallet richness. The wine undergoes no malo-lactic fermentation to retain acidity and balance texture.
This wine has a lovely balance of savoury aromas and macadamia nut from the indigenous yeasts and time on solids. Pure fruit notes of white peach and citrus with well integrated oak and a textured palate. Cellaring potential of 10+years.
