David Hook 2019 Reserve Chardonnay
From the outstanding 2019 vintage, this chardonnay was grown on the renowned sandy loam flats of Belford. The vines are 35 years old and low yielding producing 2 tonnes per acre.
This wine is pale gold in colour with youthful green tinges. The aroma is fresh and intense with lime citrus and background of ripe peach fruit characters. The palate is clean and lively with a soft but crisp citrus acid finish
Winemakers notes: The grapes were harvested in perfect condition in late January. The juice was cold settled for 24 hours before racking into French barrels for fermentation. One third of the barrels were new oak. It was stored on lees for 9 months prior to bottling.
Cellaring: This wine is ready to drink now, best drunk young while its perfume is most heady and the palate fresh.
Food Accompaniment: Great with Asian cuisine, Mediterranean pasta, salad.
