Margan 2021 Breaking Ground Albariňo
Albariño originates from Rías Baixas in the Galician region of North West Spain. Like the Hunter, this region is classified as warm maritime and its wines are low in alcohol and acid focused, typical of Hunter Valley whites.
Made by Ollie Margan, the Breaking Ground range was developed to place emphasis on echoing the soils in which they were grown. The wine was kept on skins until indigenous fermentation kicked off then pressed to a Nico Velo truncated concrete tank. Kept on fine lees for four months, the concrete enhances the tension in the wine by tightening up the dry extracts derived from the period on skins.
Bright aromatics and juicy orchard fruit mid palate. Unfined/unfiltered.
