David Hook 2019 Reserve Pinot Gris
The Pinot Gris grapes were grown in basalt soils on the slopes of Mt Canobolas at an altitude of 1000m. The grapes were ripe and full flavoured at harvest. The handpicked fruit was gently whole bunch pressed and only the finest juice was barrel fermented in older French barrels, and stored on lees for 6 months prior to bottling.
This wine is bright light yellow/green in colour with a clean fresh fragrance of pear and red apple. The palate is soft and rounded with a gentle texture and flavour due to the barrel fermentation and lees contact. The nutty overtones lead to a long lasting finish. This wine is ready to drink now, best drunk young while it's perfume is most heady and the palate fresh. Great with Asian cuisine, Mediterranean pasta, salad.
