This blend was pioneered in the Hunter Valley in the early part of last century and is currently enjoying a welcome renaissance. Elegantly structured, the blend provides a wonderful complexity with the rich earthy tones of Hunter Valley Shiraz with the vibrancy of Pinot Noir.
Originating from France, Petit Verdot is a late ripening variety that suits Australia’s dry, sunny climate perfectly. Although it has long been used as a blending component, it is increasingly being given the chance show its true colours as a varietal wine.
Aromas of blackberry and black currants, followed by a palate of cocoa and rich forest fruits. Fine tannins and subtle oak frame the fruit providing a fuller style of Hunter Valley Shiraz with lifted aromatics from the Mourvèdre.
Made in the ‘joven’ style which translates to young in Spanish and refers to wines generally drunk within one or two years of release. It shows vibrant red currant fruit aromas with spice and cherry fruits. The wine is beautifully medium bodied and perfect for the warmer months ahead.

In 2017 Suzanne & Ian trialled a new vineyard and made a little bit of everything to see how all the varieties performed. The result is this fun, experimental blend of Cabernet, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Delicious, full bodied and drinking beautifully.
Co-fermenting 5% Viognier with 95% Shiraz generates a magical combination of gentle dark fruit and floral perfume aromas of rose-petal and warm dark spice.
