Barbera is a wonderful red variety which originally comes from Italy’s northern Piedmont region. It is one of the mostly widely planted red varieties in Italy and is becoming increasingly popular in Australia due to its soft tannins and ability to grow in a variety of conditions. It is especially suited to the Hunter Valley as it retains a good amount of acidity while ripening. 

Grown in the Broke-Fordwich region of the Hunter Valley, 2023 was a fantastic vintage and this release is a great example of the style of Barbera winemakers Ian & Suzanne are known for. Appealing flavours of currants and blackberries, supple soft tannins with an excellent structure that makes it perfect with charcuterie and more robust dishes such as slow cooked meats. Barbera is medium to full-bodied with a beautiful plush style due to its characteristically low tannin profile.
