After Sangiovese, Montepulciano is Italy's second most widely planted variety. In the Abruzzo region, Montepulciano and Pecorino are the red and white pigeon pair which makes it a fitting addition to the Little Wine Co’s stable of Italian varietals.

Conveniently (and predictably) shortened to Monte here in Australia, it is a late budding, late ripening variety that is extremely well suited to the cool climate Hilltops region. 

Generosity of rich fruit combined with a firm structure; Monte is the best of both worlds. The fruit characters are warm spice and violets and the palate is velvety with a touch of herbal earthiness.
