David Hook 2022 Sagrantino
Sagrantino is native to the hills of Montefalco, an ancient city in Umbria. Introduced by monks in the Middle Ages its name is derived from the Italian sagrestia meaning sacristy from its use in a sacred context. The grape is thick skinned and late ripening producing wines of power structure and tannin. The wines have a bouquet of dark brooding red fruits and earth, sweet and savoury, firm but smooth.
Continuing his love of Italian varietals this is a new arrival from David Hook. Fruity, spicey with a bright cherry finish, it's the perfect antipasto wine.
