Audrey Wilkinson 2009 The Lake Shiraz
Recognised as one of the first vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Audrey Wilksonson has a long and storied history in the region.Their Hunter Valley Shiraz is a wine in perfect harmony. “The Lake” is named after the large spring-fed dam on the historic vineyard, adjacent to the Shiraz vines.
"Deep colour, vivid purple hue; a thoroughly engaging combination of dark fruit, spice, savoury mineral complexity and floral perfume all shine on the bouquet; the palate is silky, concentrated and seductive, with fine-grained tannin and plush velvety fruit combining seamlessly with the well handled oak; a long journey awaits."
Halliday Wine Companion
"Plenty of sweet oak spice sitting across this small parcel of 40-year-old shiraz; smells of ripe, summer berry fruits, cherries and plums. The palate serves up medium to full-bodied tannins in a smooth, layered Pricession, carrying ripe plum and cherry flavour; some toasty oak to close. Impressive poise - will age superbly."
